George III Silver Biggin by Matthew Boulton
This George III-era sterling biggin, or coffee pot, was crafted by Birmingham silversmith Matthew Boulton. Its baluster form is set upon a stand of paw feet equipped with a burner, and it retains its original scrolling wood handle and finial. Boulton, acclaimed for his remarkable silverplate, created a comparatively few pieces in sterling and examples such as this are quite a rarity.
