Rebecca Rau Protectrice Necklace

At once medieval and magnificently modern, the Protectrice Necklace transforms a 13th-century Spanish gilt-bronze harness into a jewel of exceptional beauty and symbolism. The ancient ornament, believed to have once formed part of either a noblewoman’s girdle belt or an ornate horse harness, captures the refinement and artistry of medieval Spain. Gilt in gold and richly detailed, such plaques were treasured symbols of devotion, protection and prestige.

Designer Rebecca Rau reimagines this rare artifact with contemporary sophistication. A vivid 11.68-carat unheated pink tourmaline forms the centerpiece, complemented by lustrous Tahitian baroque pearls that enhance the necklace’s sculptural silhouette. Suspended from an 18K yellow gold Victorian chain, this creation embodies the dialogue between past and present, blending archaeological grandeur with timeless elegance.
