Musical Jewelry and Sewing Casket

This charming musical jewelry and sewing box is a work of sublime artistry. Almost certainly German or Austrian in origin and crafted of deep, ebonized wood, this chest is adorned with an intricate inlay of engraved copper and brass accented by semi-precious stones and luxurious mother-of-pearl. Inside, the velvet-lined interior includes spaces for rings and four pin cushions, while the front drops down to reveal a hidden drawer for more precious valuables. This box’s musical mechanism is triggered when a slim drawer is pulled out. Additionally, one can house photographs of treasured loved ones in the double picture frame set into the box’s lid.
