Lacloche Frères Gold and Diamond Pig Purse

Lacloche Frères Gold and Diamond Pig Purse

Created by the renowned Parisian jewelers Lacloche Frères in collaboration with goldsmith Julien Duval, this delightful Belle Époque coin purse exemplifies the house’s exceptional artistry and whimsical design. Modeled as a charming pig, the masterpiece includes a finely detailed face, articulated legs, a coiled tail and a mesh purse body with a heart-shaped clasp. Every detail is extraordinary, including the diamond-accented eyes and hooves. Crafted entirely in 18K yellow gold, this evening bag is a masterful combination of design, craftsmanship and elegance.

Formally established in 1901 at 15, Rue de la Paix, Paris, Lacloche Frères quickly became celebrated for producing some of the finest jewelry and accessories of the early 20th century. Collaborating with leading Parisian makers such as Julien Duval and Paul Frey, the firm created imaginative animal-themed pieces—spiders, owls, bats and pigs—that captured the spirit of the Belle Époque. Contemporary press admired these creations for their innovation, including commentary in the Dundee Evening Telegraph, which noted that gold pig purses were a novelty, “the head of the grunter in solid gold, the body forming the popular chain purse.”
