Duke of Windsor Enamel Cufflinks

Duke of Windsor Enamel Cufflinks

Delightful masterpieces that are truly fit for royalty, these exquisite cufflinks were likely a gift from King Edward VII to his grandson, Edward VIII, the Prince of Wales, and later, the Duke of Windsor. The 15K gold treasures are masterfully hand painted with a miniature portrait of Queen Alexandra on one, while King Edward VII graces another. Each oval terminal is delicately crafted with incredible detail, displaying their royal personages against a rich green background.

Known as the tastemaker of his age, the Duke of Windsor had an incredible collection, beginning at an early age, of cufflinks, ties, socks, and other fashionable accessories. Titled the PrinceĀ of Wales on his 16th birthday, Edward ascended to the throne on January 1936, but famously and scandalously abdicated his throne after less than a year in order to marry the American divorcee and socialite Wallis Simpson. Truly a love story for the ages, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor lived happily as a fashionable couple of high society until the Duke’s death in 1972.
